What Are Information Types?

To help you find the information you need, ALLDATA®diy.com has placed the different types of vehicle information into Information Type groups. Information Types contain articles that either:

Apply to a vehicle as a whole. (i.e. VIN Vehicle Identification Number numbers)
Is specific to the individual systems, subsystems and components/parts of a vehicle (i.e. an engine power switch diagram)

Because vehicles are built with differing systems, subsystems and component/parts, each vehicle you select may display different information type categories. The information type categories will display at either a Vehicle or Vehicle-Component level.

To find Information Types:

Navigate to the Vehicle level page.

From the column on the right, select an information type that best categorizes the type of general vehicle information you are looking for.

To view Information Types that are specific to a particular system:

From the Vehicle Components list, click on a category.
From the column on the right, select an information type that best categorizes the type of repair or service specification you are looking for. This Information is specific to a component.

What are Vehicle and Vehicle-Component Levels?

Vehicle level information types have information that pertain to your entire vehicle. They are found on the Vehicle level page that immediately displays after selecting a vehicle.
Vehicle-Component level information types have information that is specific to the systems, subsystem or component you are researching. These information types will display after you select a system from the Vehicle Components list on the Vehicle level page.
