Fuel Tank Filler Pipe
The fuel tank filler pipe has a restrictor which prevents the use of the larger leaded fuel nozzles.

  

Fuel Tank Filler Cap

WARNING: THE FUEL TANK MAY BE PRESSURIZED. REMOVE THE FUEL TANK FILLER CAP SLOWLY. IF A HISSING SOUND IS HEARD, WAIT UNTIL THE CONDITION STOPS BEFORE REMOVING THE FUEL TANK FILLER CAP. IF THESE PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT FOLLOWED, FUEL MAY SPRAY AND CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

The fuel tank filler cap is of eighth-turn design and provides for pressure or vacuum relief of the fuel system. Use only the proper fuel tank filler cap to prevent possible system malfunction.

  

Filter
The in-line fuel filter provides fine filtration to protect the small metering orifices of the fuel injector nozzles. The fuel filter must be replaced when it becomes restricted.

  

Fuel Delivery Module (FDM)
The Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) contains two valves. The valve on the outlet of the FDM maintains pressure in the fuel system after the vehicle is shut off, preventing long cranking times during hot-starting conditions. The internal relief valve provides overpressure protection in the event that the fuel system flow becomes restricted or blocked.

  

Fuel Vapor Control Valve Tube Assembly
The fuel vapor control valve tube assembly consists of hoses to connect the fuel tank, fuel filler pipe, and vapor canister. The assembly contains two valves. One valve separates liquid fuel from vapor and the other valve contains a roll-over feature for safety.

  

Fuel Pump Driver Module
The Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) controls the fuel delivery module (FDM) in a returnless system. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) gets input from the fuel pressure sensor in the fuel rail and temperature readings from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The PCM then sends a duty cycle signal to the FPDM which results in variable speed fuel pump operation.

  

Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) Switch

CAUTION: Do not reset the Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch until the fuel system has been inspected for leaks.

In the event of a collision, the electrical contacts in the IFS switch will open and the FDM shuts off. To reset the IFS switch, depress the button on top of the IFS switch.
