Torque Converter Stator Support

  

Special Tool(s)

  

Disassembly

  

  1. Remove the converter impeller hub seal.

  

  1. Remove the bearing outer race.
  1. Use a pin punch and hammer to carefully drive the bearing outer race from the torque converter stator support.

  

  1. Remove the stator support O-ring.

Assembly

  1. Clean the components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts. Perform the following before assembly:

  

  1. Use Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer to press the bearing outer race into the torque converter stator support.

  

  1. Apply Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON to the new stator support O-ring and install it on the torque converter stator support. MERCON (R) Automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON (R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.
    • Stator support O-ring inner diameter: 82.9 mm (3.264 inch) .

  

  1. Use Converter Seal Replacer to install the new converter impeller hub sea].
