Removal

  1. Remove the front disc brake rotor.

  

  1. Carefully raise the staked portion of the front axle wheel hub retainer and remove the retainer.

  

  1. Remove the (A) cotter pin and the (B) tie rod end nut from the tie rod end.

  

  1. Use Tie Rod End Separator to separator the tie rod end from the front wheel knuckle.

  

  1. If equipped, remove the anti-lock brake sensor.
1 Remove the anti-lock brake wire bracket bolt.
2 Remove the anti-lock brake wire bracket.
3 Remove the bolts.
4 Remove the front anti-lock brake sensor and position aside.

  

  1. Remove the nut and the pinch bolt.

  

  1. Separate the front suspension lower arm ball joint from the front wheel knuckle.

  

  1. Remove the strut and spring assembly nuts and bolts from the front wheel knuckle.

  

  1. Separate the strut and spring assembly from the front wheel knuckle and remove the knuckle.

  1. NOTE: New fasteners must be used when old fasteners are loosened and/or removed.

NOTE: Apply Threadlock 262 E2FZ-19554-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A6 to the ball joint nut and pinch bolt threads.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
