HINGE ADJUSTMENT - DOOR

CAUTION: When adjusting the door hinges, the door window glass must be adjusted to avoid damage to the glass.

NOTE: To properly align the doors, adjust the hinges and the door latch striker plates (22008). Adjusting the hinge affects the positioning of the outside surface of the door frame. Adjusting the door latch striker plate affects the alignment of the door relative to the weatherstrip and the door closing characteristics.

  

  1. Remove the bolts and remove the door latch striker plate.
  2. Lower the window to prepare to check the door fit.

  

  1. Measure the clearance between the door and the body.

  

  1. Measure the panel alignment between the front fender and the door, and the alignment of the door to the body.
  2. If alignment is not within specification, remove the front fender.

  

  1. Loosen the door hinge to body bolts enough to permit movement.

  

  1. NOTE: If sealant is damaged, the hinge must be resealed with Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6.

Move the door to the desired position.

  

  1. Tighten the door hinge to body bolts and confirm the proper clearance between the door and the body.
  2. Install the front fender.

  

  1. Install the door latch striker plate.
  2. Adjust the door latch striker plate; refer to Striker Adjustment. See: Front Door Striker\Adjustments
  3. Measure and adjust the door window glass alignment; refer to Windows.
