 Jim Grant's Tech Tips ‘95 Isuzu Truck, Oil Leak
Q: I own a '95 Isuzu truck that has an oil geiser. When the engine is on, oil spews out of a pipe/tube that runs from the engine or turbo charger to the oil pump. I have no idea what part it is in order to buy it. My boss put me in charge of the project, and I only know so much about cars, let alone a diesel truck. I know this is hard to ask without being able to see exactly what I am talking about. The pipe is very thin, and it is located on the passenger side of the truck by the oil dipstick. Any idea what part I am looking for? - April A: That was nice of your boss. Here’s the easiest way to figure this out. Call your area Isuzu truck dealer and ask for the parts department. Once you have the parts department on the phone repeat what you’ve told me and provide them with the vehicle identification number. Ask them to fax you a diagram of the oil cooler lines for the turbo charger. Take that fax to your boss or who ever is replacing that part and have them show you just which part on the fax is needed. Once you have that, a phone call back to Isuzu should have your part on the way. A word of warning. Don't make it look too easy! Your boss may put you in charge of the whole fleet, April!!! |
