95 Buick La Sabre, Engine Vibrations
Q: The engine in my ‘95 Buick La Sabre with a 3.8L V6 engine vibrates as I accelerate, mostly between 40-50 mph or in a moderate climb on a hill. Upon demand of acceleration I can feel this vibration from moderate to severe. I changed the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter. What next? Could it be the anti knock sensor or ignition module?

A: Don’t rule out ignition problems just yet. Your vehicle is equipped with a distributor-less ignition system which has 3 ignition coils, that provide ignition spark. Each coil is responsible for ignition spark to 2 cylinders of the engine. One of the ignition coils could be failing causing the engine to skip under load when the demand on the ignition is greatest. As for replacing the anti-knock sensor or ignition module, I believe you would be wasting money in that area. You’ll find that the ignition module for your vehicle is a pricy part that no one will refund your money on once it has been plugged in.
