'88 GMC Jimmy, Electron Marching Powder

Q: Why is there white powder on the inside of the distributor cap and on the rotor of my ‘88 GMC Jimmy?

A: A spark event has nearly the heat of the sun and travels just under the speed of light. A human has to only get hit once to do the wiggly jiggly from this kind of energy.

What do you think happens to the metal tip of the rotor and the terminals of the distributor cap when this kind of energy blows through them while your driving at 60 to 70 MPH and the engine is running at 2500RPM? A little white powder is quite normal.
