Geo Tracker, Put'n Parts In
Q:
My
daughters 92 Geo Tracker died as she was driving down the road.
It acts like it is out of gas. We checked the fuel pump and it is putting
out around 70 pounds of pressure. I put a new fuel injector in it, but
it still won't start. I have already spent $300 and am getting no where.
Does it have a computer to tell the injector when to open? Where would
it be located? ......Lisa
A:
Woe
down there Lisa! Your diagnostic approach is going to cost you nothing
but money! How did you come up with about 70 PSI fuel pressure? That is
high, so I question how that information was acquired. Why do you want
to know where the computer is? That would be just about that last thing
that I would be looking at. Before any parts are replaced you have to
start with checking the basics. In most cases a vehicle that just quits
while driving down the road has a problem with air, fuel or spark supply.
It is a rare day indeed that an injector or computer just ups and quits.
If youre just guessing which part to replace youd be best
off paying for diagnosis and then if you want, make the repairs yourself.
