'87 Honda Accord EX, Glowing Battery Light

Q: I just bought an ‘87 Honda Accord EX, and noticed last night (when it was dark) that whenever I stepped on the accelerator and increased speed, the battery light would light up. If I took my foot off the pedal, or when the engine upshifted into the next gear, the light would fade out (and would fade back on again if I increased speed/accelerated). Is this a problem with the alternator/regulator or something else?.....Brad

A: Is the fan belt tight? If it is, the problem is likely the alternator. The easiest fix is to replace the alternator. Just so you know, when you buy the alternator you get the regulator free. The regulator is an internal part of the alternator.
