'89 Nissan Maxima, Sunroof Drains

Q: My '89 Nissan Maxima has a rear sunroof drain plugged somewhere and water pools under the roof after a rain until it finally sloshes either down on me or out the front drains. Do you know where the drain tubes exit at the lower end so that I may try blowing them out from below?

- Dave S.

A: If I’m not mistaken you’ll find the rear drain tubes for the sunroof traveling down the rear most post of the roof, between the rear inner fender well and quarter panel and exit right behind the rear wheels at the bottom of the rear fenders. The most common problem we see is with leaves and rubbish building up at each rear corner drain. A quick shot of air with a blowgun up through the drains should clear away the blockage. After you get things clear, take the time to clean the rubbish you blew out of the drains from the rear pan of the sunroof or it will just plug things up again.
