'84 Mercedes 380 SL, Brake Pull
Q:
I have an 84 Mercedes 380 SL ,when I apply the brakes the car pulls
to the left, what should I look for? I also want some information about
the double roller on the timing chain, I understood that some of them
came with a double roller. If so what year did they come out with the
double roller, does mine have one?...Tom keffer
A:
Loose front suspension parts or a brake caliper that is not
working correctly, tired or worn suspension bushings will cause any vehicle
to dart when applying the brakes. Your MB is plenty old enough to be suffering
from tired bushings. Also with age brake calipers can start binding and
do not move freely. This will cause the brake on one side to start working
sooner and more than the other brake. The result is a brake related pull.
As for what Mercedes calls the endless timing chain, your 380 SL should
be equipped with the double roller type.
