SERVICE PROCEDURE
Driver Side Wiper Arm to Windshield Clearance Inspection
1. Turn the ignition ON, and the wipers ON.
2. Turn the Ignition OFF so the wipers stop in the UP position as shown in Figure A.
NOTE:
With the wipers stopped in the UP position they can be moved by hand.
3. Move the wipers so the driver side wiper is in the position shown in Figure A.
4. Measure the distance between the driver side wiper arm and the windshield surface as shown in Figure B.

Measure 35 mm (1-3/8 inch) from the driver side wiper arm hinge.

Use a 4 mm (0.157 inch) feeler gauge.
NOTE:
You will need to stack smaller feeler gauges together to get the correct thickness.

Slide the feeler gauge under the wiper arm ("go - no go" measurement).
5. Clearance measurement results:

Clearance is more than 4 mm (0.157 inch) - feeler gauge goes under wiper arm.
OK: No further action required.

Clearance is less than 4 mm (0.157 inch) - feeler gauge will not go under wiper arm.
NG: Install spacing washers under the wiper motor mounting - below.
Install Spacing Washers Under Wiper Motor Mounting
1. Turn the ignition ON.
2. Turn the wiper switch ON and OFF.
